Yonnie Piffen Productions consists of talented Melbourne based filmmakers who work within the Australian film and television industry. With both feature and short films constantly being made and in development, we welcome interesting and original scripts.

Ashley Harris (Writer, Director, Producer)
Ash, with a background in Film, Education and Business Management is the founder and Creative Producer/Director of Melbourne based production company, Yonnie Piffen Productions. The Yonnie Piffen team, overseen by Ash, is currently producing Short Films and Web Films as well as having three Feature Films in development.
Ash completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Film and Television Producing at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2005. Ash followed that course up at the same college with a Masters in Film and Television – Script Writing.
“Best and Fairest”, Ash’s graduating produced film won the VCA ‘Best Film’ prize and has been screened at numerous film festivals both in Australia and Internationally.
In 2011, Ash produced a Film Victorian funded, 27-minute short film, titled, “Tethered” which managed to be nominated and win various awards around the globe.
Ash also released a short film, “Long Way Down” in May 2015. Steve Jablonski and Ash produced this project whilst Ash directed it. This film received several awards and was accepted into various film festivals around the world.
Writing-wise, Ash has written a feature-length script, a psychological thriller set in the outback of Australia, entitled, “Recreant Memories”. Ash also directed/produced a 20-minute short relating to the feature film entitled, “Mindseye”. He hopes to attract investors with this short film and aims to be in production with the feature by early 2019.
Ash is also collaborating with two other Melbourne based writers on two feature films respectively, entitled, “How do you know Chris?” and “Methland”. Both are low budget, character-driven films. Both “How do you know Chris?” and “Methland” have been greenlit and go into production in 2018. Ash will direct both of these films.
More recently, Ash has released a short film, “The Goth” in early 2018.
Steve Jablonski (Director, Producer)
Steve is an award winning filmmaker with a large body of work and experience behind him, having honed his craft over the last 16 plus years working in the Film, TV and related Media industries. He is highly experienced across all stages of the production process; from conception through development, pre-production, production, post-production to completion, delivery and distribution.
He possesses a strong passion for storytelling and creating visual content across all platforms with his broad range of experience spanning long and short form film (drama, documentary), broadcast television, television commercials, music videos, corporate communications as well as branded, online and integrated content.
He has produced and directed successful commercial content for major brands including Toyota, State Emergency Services (SES), Simonds Homes, Swann Insurance, Swisse, Coates Hire, Peter Jackson, Harley- Davidson and Strike Bowling.
As well as commercial content he has also produced music videos for major labels and well known bands including The Belligerents ('Science Fiction'), Vaudeville Smash ('Best Night'), Brothers Grim ('Perpetuating Blues') as well as many live music events.
His debut narrative feature film as Producer was an independently funded film adaptation of Dostoevsky’s masterpiece novel 'Crime and Punishment'... "a wicked tale of murder, sex, love and redemption", written for the screen and directed by Andrew O’Keefe (‘The Independent’). Premiering at the prestigious White Nights Festival in St Petersburg (Russia), the home of White Nights festivals and Dostoevsky’s hometown. The film has won numerous awards at film festivals around the World including seven Best Film awards and three acting Awards with more Nominations and Official Selections adding to the list. The film is available to stream on OzFlix and Amazon Prime Video.
He has also produced and directed numerous award winning short films that have screened at film festivals both Nationally and Internationally including Academy Award qualifying festivals.
In 2014, ‘Acts of God’, a short narrative drama, was selected for Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) to participate in the prestigious Accelerator program. It Premiered Internationally at Warsaw Film Festival where it was Nominated for the Short Grand Prix award, represented Australia at the One Country, One Film festival 2014 in France and screened in the USA at the Sedona International Film Festival. It also screened as one of the top 100 Australian short films at the St Kilda Film Festival. 'Long Way Down', another short narrative drama, premiered as an Official Selection at Montreal World Film Festival in 2016 before screening at over 25 festivals around the World. Short narrative drama, 'Mother’s Day’, Premiered at the prestigious Flickerfest in 2014. In 2009, short narrative, ‘Galactic Sex Wars’ took home the award for Best Australian Short Queer Film at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF).
Steve is a graduate of the renowned Victorian College of the Arts, attaining a Graduate Diploma and Master’s Degree in Film & TV.

When we’re not making films, we’re making television commercials through our sister brand, ANNIX. Our team works with each other all year round. When we’re not making TVCs we’re developing and making short and feature films.
